About

The Show

Southern stories of economic inspiration, historical significance and cultural creativity.

The South is shifting, and Georgia sits at the epicenter of these transformations. Our state fruit represents more than an agricultural muse, the peach symbolizes a spirit of entrepreneurship and strength. Stories with this peach spirit inspire us as we explore economic inspiration, historical significance and cultural creativity around the state.

From conversations at our local farmers market to discussions at tech events, our stories blossomed from a curiosity to learn more about the people behind brands.

The Hosts

As a dad and daughter duo, we bring a unique multi-generational perspective with a narrative style. Growing up, Jeff introduced Julia and her dog sister to the radio. We listened and also played hosted pretend talk shows. The only photos that remain are of the dog rockin’ out to most likely Led Zeppelin, and Julia ready with the equipment!

While Jeff played NPR during car rides to soccer practice, Julia preferred the local pop music station instead. Eventually, she grew up and realized what she was missing, becoming a podcast fanatic in New York City. It helped her tune out on the subway, and she learned something too.

When Julia moved back to Georgia, we began carpooling together to work, traffic and all. To add value to our excruciating commute, we agreed that podcasts would become our station of choice. Our favorite topic quickly became entrepreneur stories.

The more we listened to podcasts during the week and explored farmers markets on the weekend, we identified a void  —  our local creators had impressive accomplishments, but their stories weren’t known beyond a small radius. We found these stories to e sparks of curiosity and inspiration.

Our Favorite Podcasts

We listen to a lot of audio — at least ten hours a week at a minimum! While we appreciate interview shows with talented hosts, we really admire narrative storytelling the most. At the moment, these are our top three favorite podcasts. We could go on about this topic forever so feel free to ask. Julia may have a spreadsheet of their favorite shows and episodes…

  • How I Built This: Host Guy Raz has an incredible interviewing style. He connects with his guests for real conversations that focus on the highs and lows of their entrepreneurship journeys.
  • StartUp: The narrative style of Lisa Chow and the Gimlet team engages you in a story. We admire the raw, honesty and real voices of the stories which are portrayed.
  • 99% Invisible: If there was a topic that we didn’t realize we wanted to learn more about, we turn to 99% for a dose of curiosity. The narrative storytelling on unique topics surprises and intrigues us.
